Son Of Aboda Is Leaving UG Drill Behind … and Has a New Sound and a Date to Prove It

Son Of Aboda is changing lanes, and he’s giving fans a calendar so nobody gets lost.

KlaViral has learned the Ugandan artist is moving away from UG Drill, the style that blends local languages into drill music, and toward Afro-rap. A new EP is set to drop November 10.

Here’s the deal — the new sound adds melodic hooks, Afrobeats rhythms and more personal storytelling, pairing rap verses with soulful melodies. The move also lets him dig into his Luo heritage, and it’s meant to help him reach listeners beyond the drill audience.

Turns out, there’s a second date to mark. He’ll hold an exclusive listening party on November 27, so fans get a chance to hear the project live and not just on a screen.

As for who he is, Son Of Aboda was raised in Ntinda, Kampala, and has already opened live shows for Ugandan rapper Navio and South African artist Nasty C.

Now for the blanks. The EP’s title, the track list and the venue for the listening party haven’t been revealed. We also haven’t seen a direct quote from him about the switch.

New genre, new EP and two dates circled — Son Of Aboda is trading drill for melody, and the countdown is on.

We’ll update when the title and venue drop.
