In his announcement, Maro got reflective, tracing his journey from a “prodigal son” raised in Nsambya to a musician who had to prove himself in a household where music wasn’t taken seriously at first.

Maro also opened up about losing friends along the way and said he came close to losing his own life last year — a heavier admission tucked into an otherwise celebratory announcement.
