Joshua Baraka has landed one of Afrobeats’ biggest names, and so far all anyone gets is a teaser.
TMZ has learned the Ugandan singer has teamed up with Nigerian star Tiwa Savage on a track called “Commando.” The song is the second cut on Baraka’s upcoming EP, “Recess 2,” the follow-up to his earlier project, “Recess.”
Here’s the deal — Baraka has shared a teaser, but that’s all fans have seen. The full song and an official release date are still under wraps.
Turns out, the pairing says a lot about where Baraka is aiming. He’s known for blending Afropop and R&B, and landing Tiwa Savage, an established Afrobeats name with international experience and a big following, fits his push to build a career beyond Uganda.
Neither artist has said anything publicly about the collaboration, at least not in what we’ve seen, so the teaser is doing all the talking.
A Ugandan hitmaker, a Nigerian heavyweight and a track called “Commando” — the hype is already ahead of the music.
We’ll update when a release date lands.
