Kampala’s Sunday Scene Is Going Full Denim … And Whisky’s Getting a Daytime Makeover.

Forget the usual Friday-night grind — Kampala’s Sunday crowd is about to get a denim makeover.

Garden Pop Up is back this weekend, the September 6 edition is going full denim, no exceptions. The setting: Tales Bar & Lounge, doors open 11am, for a crowd that’s clearly decided brunch-and-bounce beats staying in.

Here’s the deal — The Singleton whisky brand is behind the scenes on this one, and they’re not playing by the usual “whisky is a nightcap” rulebook. Their pitch: sip it in daylight, garden-party style, surrounded by friends instead of a dim bar.

Turns out, the brand’s leaning all the way into the vibe shift. Brand manager Simon Lapyem says the whole point is creating something that feels natural, not forced — pairing the whisky with music, personal style and good company rather than a stiff tasting event.

And the lineup’s stacked to match — nine DJs are splitting duty across the afternoon, including DJ Roja, DJ Bugy, City Girl, DJ Matson, DJ Sern, DJ Gero, DJ Heydez, Ville and DJ Gadorfi, with MCs Josh MC, MC Zack and Top Boy MC keeping the crowd hyped between sets.

Turns out daytime is the new prime time — Kampala’s just getting there before everyone else.

The denim dress code is expected to bring out some serious fashion moments too — think denim-on-denim, statement pieces, the works. Whether you’re there for the whisky, the DJs or the fit-checks, Garden Pop Up is shaping up as the Sunday ritual Kampala didn’t know it needed.
